Zámčisko

Vast hill fort built and used in times of Veľká Morava. Hill fort’s advantageous location enabled them to control the roads within 15-20 km. The hill fort is horse-shoe shaped, 115 meters long and 105 meters wide. The fort is closed off with a bulwark, combined with a trench. The hill fort Zámčisko has two courtyards and in by the east end of the bulwark you can find a spring well. The last archeological explorations have been done in 1999 by Archeologické Múzeum SNM. The youngest fortifications are said to originate from the end of 13th and the beginning of the 14th century. Zámčisko is reachable from the locality Harmónia by following the blue trail or directly from Modra by following the blue and later the yellow trail, or you could follow the red trail from Zochova Chata and then the blue trail.
